Outfit options for Blogher '08

Ave and Briar have been helping me figure out what the fiddleybop to wear at Blogher. I mean it's San Francisco, people are so chic there, ok, people anywhere are chic compared to what you find in the Adirondacks (Apologies to Raeanne, Amy and Trina, ya'll are super chic!) Now my cheeks are flaming because my god, who says, "Chic?"

Anyway, back to the conference. It'll be a mere 2.5 months since I had Finley. Let's be honest, even the most confident of us are struggling a bit at 10 weeks postpartum, the impatience with things going back into place (Shut up! They will too go back into place!) And, while this isn't prom, you also kind of want to look your best when, after months and months, or even years, of reading someone's writing, or of them reading yours, or after envying the casual hippness of their tweets you kinda want to look good...or something. I've been struggling because the whole underwear and tanktop thing was really working for me, but something tells me that without the cute belly, no matter how dazed my expression, it might not be so openly embraced.

Briar's been cooking up ideas, but I can't pull off pink and violet together.

And while I am bringing Finley, I don't think I'll be bringing a stroller and this is slightly more "bag lady" than I had hoped.

They raise a good point here: dress up or dress down? I think my answer is somewhere between Cinderella and a hoody with Huggies, no?

Avery does headwear better then I can, so this look is out, though I may take a cue and pack Daddy's wallet.

And while I love the idea of preparedness, galoshes for rain, tank for heat, I think I'll take my chances.

My waffling has worn on the girls, they tag teamed me last night with this headgear-heavy look. Perhaps the message is that I ought to go to the salon before July...

Are you going? Any suggestions for me?

So very sad I won't be going this year. Yet, I'm envisioning a drive-by in the 'Daks the next time I'm headed to my parents. Sound good?

I'm not going, but my suggestion is not to sweat it. Wear a top and jeans and cute flats and call it good. Or something like that. :)

As long as the Trenches on the Road aren't puking...

And, yes, top, jeans and flats, though I have some fierce wedges that are totally comfy and give great calf :)

Dude. You could wear a paper bag and still be perfectly chic.Oh hell, now I said it too!

I had no idea how much thought went into BlogHer outfits until this year. I'm sure you'll find something great!

Can I come if I dress like a woman?

[ducking]

That was quite the fashion show your little ones staged. Fun photos of life at its dearest.

Have fun . . .

Just this very afternoon I wondered if I could get away with these pants I'm wearing from Costco that roll up at the bottom, paired with a white t-shirt. No? Not so much. Harrumph.

Honestly, though, pretty much anything goes at the conference. You just want to be comfy, and not self-conscious. So my advice is to avoid wearing anything you're going to be feeling self-conscious in.

Not going but can't wait to hear all about it!

I am not going -- SF is so far -- but if I were, I would be freaking out about what to wear! Your girls are so sweet and helpful.

wait - tank top and underwear is a bad idea? uh oh... i may have to rethink my packing plans.

I love Avery The Baglady, that cracked me up! You will look rockin' and um, as it tends to happen to moms with newborns, they'll all probably have their eyes more on Fin anyway.

I vote underwear and tanktop. But not to the party on Thursday night because that's what I'm planning on wearing.

Dibbs.

I haven't a clue but I definitely vote for comfort. Everybody who reads you loves you anyway (in a blog girl love kind of way) so you'll be fine!
And bag lady was exactly what I thought when I saw that picture of Avery!

Their outfits slay me...well done. I'm sur the tank top and underwear combo will work out just fine as long as Daddy's wallet can be tucked into a waistband.

I'm a little partial to the bag lady look myself!

Oh, how I wish I were going! The trip from Australia is a little hefty in length and cost :(

Are you taking Kelley with you?

The very, very nice thing about having a new baby with you is that you could probably wear a tank top and rubber boots and everyone would still be looking at the bebe.

Janet said...

Do you have a sling for the babe? If so, you can get away with stained tank tops because she is your coverup!

I have been on the fence/off the fence about going. Obviously, I'm running out of time. If I do end up going, I will be sure to tell you that you look fabulous.

Ha! Love the photos! Of course my eye goes immediately to the TCP dress I COULDN'T GET ONLINE because it was "unfortunately" out of stock. GRRRRRR!

I'll be there. I hug. AND I wear jeans a lot. I wear them with spike heels or flip flops; t-shirts or halters...

and, I smell good and flat iron my hair.

see you soon!

not going. pretty sure i haven't earned it yet.

so instead of suggesting outfit ideas, can i suggest the girls open their own store? i am pretty sure their fashion sense is ahead of its time :)

too fun!

I can't wait to meet you!!! :)
I am wearing - GOD ONLY KNOWS! I have a pathetic wardrobe at this point. Oh well! I don't care- tank top and underwear too perhaps!

I'm going but only because it's in my backyard. So as someone born and raised in San Francisco let me say that really, you can wear anything--jeans, a dress, tie-dye, Brooks Brothers, a t-shirt, pasties, whatever--that's the beauty of this city. So wear what makes you most comfortable!
Hope to meet you at the conference! )I'll be the one most likely wearing jeans, ballet flats and a some sort of top. Unless of course it's the end of the night at the cocktail party and then I cannot guarantee the top.)

Not going. Sniffle sniffle.
Giving birth instead.

No, I'm not going. Is it wrong to admit that I think having a bikini wax sounds more fun than having to actually meet all these intimidating bloggers in person. I'll just live vicariously through everyone else.

But I LOVED THIS POST. So much cuteness.
